Description

This scarce World War II-era shallow-water diving mask was manufactured by The Ohio Rubber Company of Willoughby, Ohio. Commonly referred to by collectors as the Victor Berge mask, this specialized diving apparatus features a distinctive integrated brass regulator and was designed for rapid deployment in shallow-water operations where speed and efficiency were essential.

This example survives in outstanding original condition, with exceptionally well-preserved rubber that remains remarkably soft and flexible. Both original head straps are present and intact, while the brass regulator remains securely mounted and exhibits excellent original appearance. Of particular interest, this early regulator features a slightly different mounting configuration than the other Victor Berge mask offered in this auction, providing an opportunity to observe variations in the design of this uncommon diving apparatus.
