Nation's Attic Diving Into History Auction 2025 + More
Lot 279:
Description
Antique Long Nose Golf Club, McEwan Of Musselburgh. Head made from fruit wood with lead weight to the rear and the traditional horn slip along the leading edge of the sole. Head is stamped ‘McEwan’, the shaft of hickory with a leather grip. Total length 45”. This is a very nice example of a McEwan long nose golf club from the 1870s in wonderful condition and from one of the great club makers. The name McEwan identifies more than a long nose club, it belongs to the most famous family of early club makers. Established in 1770 by James McEwan, the McEwan club making business was passed down from father to son for well over a century. McEwan clubs were always well-known for their fine quality.
