Description

This unique rubber mask was made by the Thompson Engineering Company during World War 2. This type of shallow water helmet TECO mask was used in place of traditional shallow water copper & brass helmets. A mask like this was obviously much lighter than a helmet and allowed for more mobility. This example is in excellent condition. Both back rubber straps come with the helmet (not shown in photos). Few of these masks survived due to the rubber construction. Masks like this were the primary device used after the attack at Pearl Harbor, rather than heavy helmets. Wonderful display piece!
