Nation's Attic Diving Into History Auction 2025 + More
Lot 133:
Description
This is an interesting diving helmet constructed in the style of a British-made helmet. While there are not identifying names or markings on the copper body or brass hardware, the bonnet is certainly in the style of Siebe Gorman helmets made in London, England.
This helmet is in the classic configuration of a three-light (windows or ports), bolt (number of bolts on the outside of the breastplate) model. The bonnet and breastplate do thread together without issue. There is a rather crude neck ring gasket currently in place. The inside of the bonnet does not have any air vents. All of the port glass is intact, the front faceplate glass is cracked but still strong. There is also one knob missing from the faceplate. The exhaust and air fittings are intact as well as four brails and twelve wing nuts. There is one larger dent on top of the bonnet and a small pinhole-sized hole on the peak of the bonnet. A unique safety latch is present.
This helmet does have a nice vintage look and is perfect for display just about anywhere.
All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity.
All items will be shipped with a signature required upon delivery and full insurance either via FedEx or the USPS Priority Mail.
