Description

The Galeazzi Company was started in the 1930s by Signore Roberto Galeazzi. His helmets were of high quality and were used by the Italian Navy during WWII and after. The company would produce three different models, Marina (the Italian Navy Standard), Grand Luz and Titano. Of those models, each had different options and configurations that could be specially ordered.

This specific helmet is a Marina model, favored by the Italian Navy. The configuration features 12 bolts and three lights (windows). This classic design proved its effectiveness before, during, and after World War 2.

The helmet features the serial number 33:637 on both the bonnet and breastplate neck rings. That same number is also present on the ID plate. This serial numbers matching helmet is also in fantastic condition!

This helmet has been left in its original condition with a fantastic patina. If you appreciate a helmet that shows its use and history while still being in excellent condition, this is the perfect example. All the original hardware is present on this helmet, with the exception of the safety locking pin on the back of the neck ring, which is commonly missing. All the glass, window guards, faceplate, twelve wing nuts, brails, eyelets, exhaust, internal exhaust button, and vents are present. A barbed hose fitting is present on the air fitting. Only very minor shallow working dents are present on top of the bonnet. The helmet’s construction style is also visible, adding another impressive visual element. Both halves of the helmet thread together without issue, the neck ring gasket is present.

Galeazzi helmets were not made in huge numbers. Finding a numbers-matching example that has remained in original condition is rare. These fine helmets also do not appear on the US market often!

All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity.
