Nation's Attic 2024 Diving Into History
Lot 230:
One of the most influential and important designers and manufacturer of diving helmets starting in 1967 is Ben Miller. After designing his own helmet out of fiberglass and making 6 of them, he went to work on a more durable helmet. His first run of helmets, called the series 100, were made of bronze and cast in Norway before being shipped to the US for final assembly. While a very costly process, the result was an extremely high-quality helmet made in limited numbers. Those helmets would be made until a new design was introduced in 1972, the series 200.
The seldom found model 200 helmets were produced in the early to mid 1970s. On the window frame is serial #231E, along with the Miller name. The original black paint is still present with typical chipping from use decades ago. The bronze body is in very good condition along with the hardware. Please review all the photos for overall condition.
