One of the most iconic and historic diving helmets from the late 20th Century is the Rat Hat. Designed by Bob Ratcliffe, this fiberglass helmet was prized by divers worldwide. Oceaneering, the company that utilized the Rat Hat was very protective of these helmets and would take all measures necessary to prevent loss of a single helmet.

This specific example is in incredible condition and the nicest example we have every handled! The grey paint on the fiberglass body is in like new condition. The chrome hardware is also like new, with only wear visible on the top carry handle. The handle does retain the original Oceaneearing International button. The internal components of the helmet also appear to be in like new condition. There is no neck dam ring present. Such an iconic helmet in this condition is worthy of any collection or museum.

All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity.
