Nation's Attic 2024 Diving Into History
Lot 102:
This unique rubber mask was made by the Thompson Engineering Company during World War 2. This type of shallow water helmet TECO mask was used in place of traditional shallow water copper & brass helmets. A mask like this was obviously much lighter than a helmet and allow for more mobility. This example is complete and in excellent condition. Few of these masks survived due to the rubber construction. Masks like this were the primary device used after the attack at Pearl Harbor, rather than heavy helmets. Wonderful display piece!
