THE PEARL SEEKERS, by Norman Bartlett, 1954, Coward McCann, New York, with 57 illustrations and endpaper maps of diving locations around Australia. It is basically the history of the discovery and farming of the largest pearl producing beds in the world, which are off north-west Australia. A collectible helmet diving book from the most famous pearling grounds in the world. 312 pages, b&w photos, maps, bibliography. The hardbound book is in very good condition in original dust jacket with additional laser copy cover in protective sleeve. AlsoPEARL DIVER, by Victor Berge and Henry Wysham Lanier. 1937 Sun Dial Press, New York. Hard bound in original dust jacket in protective sleeve, 352 pages with illustrations. Early pearl diving adventures of Berge who would later become part of American military diving history by creating the Victor Berge mask with a demand regulator, manufactured by the Ohio Rubber Company in WWII. There are encounters with cannibals and early accounts of sharks underwater. The book is in good condition with its original dust jacket.
