Buyer's premium:

This is a freshly serviced and scarce 1970s Aquadive 1000 meter Caribbean chronograph divers watch. Unlike nearly all other dive watches sold in the 1960s and 1970s, Aquadive was only sold in dive shops. Their watches were marketed dive magazines and the top SCUBA shops and divers in the world as the ultimate tool for extreme dives. The famed astronaut and aquanaut Scott Carpenter even endorsed Aquadive watches.

For the huge 50mm diameter 3333 foot rate case, Aquadive used a unique material on their dials referred to as
Scotchlite. This type of dial was similar in appearance to a reflective road sign or metallic paint. The result after 50 years is a distinctive bright textured dial. The blue Bakelite bezel matches the dial well. To withstand the extreme depths this watch was rated it, Aquadive housed the movement in their Jenny Caribbean Triple Safe case, which is 14.5mm thick! Unofficially referred to as the UFO for its large round design, the watch was made to be legible in the deepest ocean depths.

This specific watch and the other Aquadive in this auction were given to a US Navy diver in the 1970s for testing. The watch was tested successfully and then used for years by the diver. In 2023 the watch movement was fully serviced and a new custom made sapphire crystal was made for it. The original crystal has been retained with the watch and will accompany it. The stainless steel case, dial, hands, bezel were kept in original condition. The watch has been tested for time and runs just as it did originally. The watch is not guaranteed at its originally 1000m rating. A signed document from Nations Attic attesting to the watches known history and service history will also accompany this watch.
