Nation's Attic Diving Into History 2023
Lot 131:
This is a vintage USN Mark V diving helmet air control valve. It is made of solid brass and was the first configuration used during the first half of the 20th century. In the 1916 US Navy diving manual, this style is shown in Plate VII. This is the double female air control that was discontinued during WWII and replaced with the double male model. One end is clearly stamped Morse Diving Equipment. The number 655 is also stamped into the valve. These are not easy to find and are a period correct part for your Mark V helmet from 1916 to roughly 1942.
