Nations Attic 2026 Diving Into History + More
Lot 181:
Description
This is a representation of a very rare diving helmet made for the Brazilian Navy by Charles Person of San Palo, Brazil. Person helmets, when found, are generally their shallow water models, popular within the gold and diamond mining industry in South America. However, the Brazilian Navy contracted with Person to make a limited number of 12 bolt helmets for them. This helmet features all the design elements of a rare Person 12 bolt Brazilian Navy helmet, but we do have our concerns. The helmet is quite heavy, with an authentic copper body and brass hardware. All the glass is intact as well as port guards. Twelve wing nuts, four brails, exhaust, air fitting, threaded safety bolt, and front valve are intact. Inside the bonnets air vents are present as well has a chin exhaust button. The front two brails feature the letter F and a Person stamp with anchor. The back two brails have the letter A and the same Person with anchor stamps. The rectangular brass ID plate is blank. The helmets neck ring gasket is gone, which allows the bonnet to rock slightly even when threaded onto the breastplate. It is our opinion that this helmet is a quality replica. It’s a fine display piece of a rare model. We will not be issuing a COA with this helmet. The display stand in the photos is not included. The option to purchase the stand at a discounted price will be available after the auction. All items will be shipped with a signature required upon delivery and full insurance either via FedEx or the USPS Priority Mail. Worldwide shipping is available; however, no ocean freight will be offered on large items. DHL express is an option for international shipments under 600 pounds via air. A shipping quote prior to the auction can be provided by emailing your postal code.
